Kanarienvögel wurden von 1730 bis 1986 in Kohleminen als Warnvögel vor Sauerstoffmangel eingesetzt.

Reinhard Hölker präsentiert eine Videoinstallation im ehemaligen Verladeturm Mücke, welche dieses Phänomen aufgreift: Zahlreiche Monitore sind in einer Lore und um sie herum angeordnet. In ihnen sind Gesichter von Kindern zu sehen, die versuchen, dem Betrachter durch melodiöses Pfeifen mitzuteilen, dass aktuell keine Gefahrensituation besteht. Im Zusammenklang der Melodien entsteht ein scheinbar wirrer, aber dennoch liebevoller Klang.

Canaries were used in coal mines from 1730 to 1986 as warning birds of oxygen shortage.

Reinhard Hölker presents a video installation in the former loading tower Mücke, which takes up this phenomenon: Numerous monitors are arranged in and around a trolley. In them, faces of children can be seen, who try to inform the viewer through melodious whistling that there is currently no dangerous situation. In the harmony of the melodies a seemingly confused, but nevertheless loving sound is created.
