Zu sehen ist das in Zeitlupe dargestellte Zwinkern eines Krokodilauges. Das Reptil besitzt ein drittes Augenlid, die Nickhaut, welches dem Öffnen und Schließen der beiden anderen Augenlider jeweils vorangeht. Dem Menschen ist diese Nickhaut evolutiv abhandengekommen. Projiziert wird das urzeitlich anmutende Auge auf eine unregelmäßig geformte Ölschieferplatte.

The blinking of a crocodile’s eye, shown in slow motion, can be seen. The reptile has a third eyelid, the nictitating membrane, whose blink precedes the opening and closing of each of the other two eyelids. Humans have lost this nictitating membrane through evolution. The primeval-looking eye is projected onto an irregularly shaped oil shale plate.
